Tips On Protecting Your New Tablet From Physical Damage
Getting a new tablet for your birthday or Christmas is quite exciting. Now you have a device that can connect to the Internet and play games or help you out with work while on the go. But using expensive electronics while mobile can also be a bit of a risk. One wrong move and that device that cost you hundreds of dollars could sustain significant damage after a drop. Follow these tips to keep your new tablet out of the tablet repair shop.
Get a Screen Protector, Not Just a Case
Many people purchase cases to provide some protection or support for their tablets, but many people leave the most vulnerable part of the tablet unprotected. Many tablet screens can be damaged or scratched quite easily if you are not careful. A screen protector might save from a scratch or two in the event that an accident happens.
Only Use It When Stationary
It’s sad that this even has to be a “tip”, but all you have to do is turn on the news to see yet another story of someone getting into a car accident because they were texting while driving to understand why this advice is a necessity. Many tablets can text today as well, increasing the risk of this happening. Other people may just have a hard time taking their eyes off the screen if playing a game or watching a movie.
Even if you’re not in a car, you could easily trip or stumble while walking if you are staring down at your tablet. Always hold your tablet with two hands and only use it while sitting or standing still.
Kid-Proof Your Tablet
If you received your tablet for Christmas or at another large family gathering, you might want to keep it out of the children’s reach. If you have younger children in the vicinity when using your tablet, be sure to make clear that it is off limits. You may want to put it somewhere out of harm’s way like you do with other valuables when the kids come over. One way to discourage use by someone who might be less than responsible with it is to put a passcode on the tablet.
Don’t let your tablet end up in the repair shop due to a nasty fall. Always buy a screen protector in addition to a case, never use your tablet while moving around or driving and take steps to keep tablet out of harm’s way when around young children.
